The Art Unleashed auction benefitting the KC Humane Society was tonight.  I donated a piece (the dog collar) titled The Bridge Crossed.  I was so nervous that no one would bid on it.  I didn't want to have to buy it myself...  But I didn't even have to bid!  There were several bids, including a small flurry towards the end of the silent auction.  And I don't even know the person that bought it!

Silly as it may sound, I kind of felt validated as an artist.  Like something I did was worth paying for.  I know what my bio says...and I do mean it.  I really would rather someone hate something than be unaffected.  But at least a couple of people liked it!  YEAH!

The only things I've sold in the past have been relatively "normal."  This was the first remotely abstract or off-kilter kinda thing.  I'm so stoked.  I just had to tell ya'll.

the validation received from selling a piece is always a great motivational tool...the fact that people are willing to pay their cash for something that you create is an incredible feeling that i hope every artist can experience
