Thank you for your observation; I intend to critique American identity and nationality in my work. I styilize my work (ie. imperfect stripes and stars) to make a point that nationality is a compulsive and repetitive desire to dominate. I am aware how, as a culture, Americans surround themselves (me included) with our own image. I believe it is comfortable, desirable, and insecure of us to do so. I intend for my work to be humerous and ironic, and to address American traditions and nostalgia. This is a lengthly overview; it's good to try it out on different people. I'm interested in the idea that you make folk art; I grew up in a rural town.

Quirky...I enjoy the jug set, but there's something about the stump face that's sinister and off-putting in an interesting way. It stands out from the rest.

Hi,
Great face jugs--they definitely make me smile. Also enjoyed Redneck art--makes me think of archaeology and what future archaelogists will dig up and analyze about our society.
