Most of my work of late has been done using only photoshop. I start with a blank sheet (9 x 12) at 300 dpi. I hunt the web for the subject and open it in Photoshop and set it to the side. Most of the painting is done with the various paint brushes available and use the magnifier a lot. I also use the blending tool as well to get a finer point. I also use multiple layers. I continually change the brush size and opacity in order to achieve the smoother areas. On a typical painting I will have 10 to 15 layers.
Recently I have picked the pencil back up and had some difficulty remembering the techniques I used. I hope that after some more practise, I will get better at that.
On any of my projects I am usually listening to music as I paint. Most of my work has been done to the sound of the musical score from the "Passion of the Christ". More recently I am working on a muscle car illustration (Pencil, pen and markers) and listening to Joe Satriani.
