hit counter doesn't count

Hey! I was wondering if the hit counter only counts hits from other 723 members coming to your site (in house browsing). I had a number of 32 hits since the hit counter appeared on my account, but I have experimented and checked out my own site on more than one occasion while not being logged in (thus, I could be anybody). Plus, I have friends who while on the phone with me are checking it out, but the number of hits never changes. Is this a "working out the kinks" thing? I'm just curious. Thanks!

hmmm... i think it only increases when another member views the profile..
