I have a very large eclectic taste in music, but Tool has always had a place in my heart. And when I'm not into heavy transcending, I love Iron and Wine for their soft, abstract emotion-filled lyrics.
If you're trying to find more bands that you'd like, try Pandora.com. It broadened my tastes even more because it adjusts to the listener's dis/approval.
