Heya...

I have been going back and forth on the whole medium format thing. My exposure to it has been limited and was AGES ago. So I was curious if anyone here used a medium format camera?

If so, what do you shoot? What kinds of lenses? And what do you like about it?

Thanks!

The only real issue i have with moving from 35mm and/or Digi is the expense.  It is rather expensive to buy a quality device, as well as all the film you will need to produce shots.

One of the main reasons i moved into the digi relm was the learning factor.  with a digi and a multi-gig card, you can experiment without worry.

I think my main advice, would be to keep the interest alive for medium format, but realistically move forward with it once youve mastered your eye.  Medium format cameras are great for the experienced, and fun to use on an occasional basis.  If you are willing to pay the price (literally) then go for it, to tool around with when you have some extra cash to buy all the film.

Either way, it would be a fun experience and give you the ability to stray a bit from the routine of digi.

Enjoy!

I have an old Mamiya 645 with two lenses, a 50mm and I think a 150mm. I still develop film and prints in a real darkroom. If you use the same laws of exposure for the medium format that you use for 35mm, exposure should be no problem. There have been times that I shoot by hand.

I like to take my time and visit sites several times before comming back o shoot.

Digital is for more fast paced shooting needs. You can still process a digital in B&W.

science is serious, but art is fun.

Thanks for the input, I have since purchased an old RB67 ProS, realising it was like riding a bike. I also have a couple of holga's which have been a lot of fun.
