At 50 (now 57) years of age I was finally covinced I didn't have all the answers. Although much wizer now, jeez! what a rude awakening.

Biography

|
Mostly self taught because my subject matter was unacceptable at the young age of 12, I had always wanted to create the nude female figure in a material that would last forever. Boink!Bronze.
I did get lucky enuff to study with Ralph Tarzian, sculptor, Laguna Beach, Ca., who taught me the most valuable lesson I have ever learned,
'Artistic License'.
I asked him why Rodin could make mistakes in proportion and get away with it. He snickered and said 'because he's the artist'.
From Robert "Bob" Cunningham, Painter/sculptor, So. Cal., I learned to put my best foot forward when competing for a commission.
I won my first competition 'hands down' but it was snatched away from me at the last minute because the male's ass was so nice on the maquette that the gay designers kept making comments about it. The higher powers took it from me and presented it to an artist that made sharp, angular, granite, abstract, rock things. Do I sound bitter? You bet!
