Oubliette Studio's was created to market my work as well as other influential artists. As well as finding my own outlets for what to do with my art work, I'd like to also help and network with other local artists. Joint show?s are more fun and more artists should learn to work together instead of competing with one another.
My art has sometimes broken a few social norms, or at least try to get somebody to stop and look, to remind them that creativity lingers in everyone and everything, not just the artist but the art lover. Without them, artist would not exist, or have a reason to keep producing art.
My art started mainly as a way to exercise my inner Demons, and those demons remain some of my strongest creative forces. But my demons are varied, and change form and substance often. I too keep pace with them; switch subject matter just as often. Boredom comes very quickly for me, and boredom is an open invitation for my demons to come out and play. I mainly work in oils, but some of the other mediums I work in are water color paint, pen and ink, calligraphy pens, washes with Indian ink, (drawing with a bamboo brush) charcoal, and so on. I sometimes get started just by throwing some random marks down on a canvas or a piece of paper. This strategy open?s up my sub-consciousness when working on my more abstract work. I believe the sub-conscious is where most of my creative energy slumbers. With any other projects using figure models or an actual space I will sketch it out first so things are made proportionately correct. I may not be a perfectionist, but I try to avoid having my work from looking flat. Mediums I use the most; Oil paints, charcoal, pen and ink, calligraphy pens/ ink washes. I also do some crafty stuff such as making pottery and accessories.
